The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) hosted a meeting of its Special Advisors on August 3rd 2018, at its headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand. Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF), attended the meeting as Special Advisor appointed by Dr. Mario Hardy., CEO of PATA on May 18, 2018, on the occasion of PATA Annual Summit 2018 in Gangneung On August 9th, 2018, Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF) paid a courtesy call on Mr. Pyung-oh KWON, President & CEO of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), and former Ambassador of Korea to Saudi Arabia. Amb. Dho congratulated Mr. KWON for his Presidency and discussed ways of advancing Korea’s trade and investments. On August 9, 2018, Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF), had a meeting at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea with Mr. Lee Joo-young, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, and Chairman of the Korea-Africa Forum, and Mr. Yeon Ho Choi, Chairman of the Korea-Africa Foundation. Together, they evoked potential initiatives and projects to strengthen ties between South Korea and African countries. Introduction of ICF activities to the Consul General at the U.S. Embassy to the Republic of Korea8/12/2018 Amb. Dho took this opportunity to introduce ICF, its background and activities, with a special focus on recent projects with the Eighth United States Army (EUSA)commanding formation of all United States Army forces in South Korea. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF), undertook a mission in New-York, USA, on July 17 to 19, 2018, in order to attend several official events, including a general meeting of the UN SDGs Advocacy Group, as well as a ceremony commemorating of the 100th anniversary of the birth of South African leader Nelson Mandela. On that occasion she received a book about Nelson Mandela with a Prologue by UN SDGs Advocate Graça Machel. On July 5 and 6, 2018. Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Fund (ICF), was part of a mission in Kigali, Rwanda, together with the Korea International Cooperation Agency – KOICA. The mission included a meeting at the Sustainable Development Goals Center for Africa, with Dr. Belay Begashaw, Director General and members of his team, an inspection of the land selected to build a new SDGs Center for Africa, a visit of tourist facilities and businesses run by women, and an assessment visit of the 146th UN SDGs Thank You Small Library established by the ST-EP Foundation in July 2014. Meeting with KOICA's President6/22/2018 On June 21, 2018, Amb. Dho Young-shim, Chairperson of ICF and UN SDGs Advocate had a meeting with the President of the International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Dr. Mi-kyung LEE, together with Mr. Lee Jae Young, a 5 term Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, in order to discuss ICF projects such as the Training Tourism Talents for Today and Tomorrow initiative. As part of its activities aimed at fostering friendly and mutually beneficial relationships between Korea and other countries, the International Charity Foundation (ICF) has been instrumental in launching the K-Beauty initiative in order to support cooperation between Korean and overseas cosmetics companies. Within this framework, and at the initiative of Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of ICF, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in April 2018 between ICF and Korean cosmetics companies in order to raise funds through CSR activities.
