Meeting with the President opf KOICA and the former Director-General of UNESCO

​Amb. DHO Young-shim, Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation and UN SDGs Alumni, had a meeting at the headquarters of the Korea International Cooperation Agency – KOICA, with Mrs. Mi-kyung Lee, President of KOICA, and
Dr. Irina BOKOVA, former Director-General of UNESCO. On that occasion, they shared ideas on women and girls’ empowerment.
Dr. BOKOVA highlighted that a 12 year-old girl should be able to continue education in a safe school, supported by her family & community, as a measurement of SDG’s success. During her visit to Korea, she give lectures at Hansei University, Seoul National University, Sogang University and the Korean University, on several issues related to the UN SDGs.

​The First 2019 Pyeongchang Peace & Sustainable Development Forum was hosted on March 30, 2019 at Woljeongsa temple by Pyeongchang city, in partnership with International Charity Foundation (ICF) and Millennium Hikers, under the theme  “Peace, Sports and Sustainable Tourism”. Commemorating the first anniversary of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and Paralympics, the Forum was designed as a venue to share to discuss about the PyeongChang Olympic Legacy Development Plan and sustainable development through sports and tourism, as well as sharing experiences and cases of cities around the world  with the participants,
The event started with welcoming remarks by Mr. HAN Wang-kee, Mayor of Pyeongchang and Amb. DHO Young-shim, Chairperson of ICF and UN SDGs Alumni, and by a keynote speech of H.E. Mr. YOO Jin-ryong, Former Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea. This was followed by questions and comments by the participants, and an active debate on how peace and prosperity could be promoted through sustainable cultural, sports and tourism experiences.
The Forum was attended by an international audience of 100 participants from across the world, including the Ambassadors of Egypt, Lebanon and Romania to South Korea and representatives of the Embassies of Netherlands, and Norway. The program also included visits of Olympic facilities, as well as Templestay activities on March 31, and an hiking event organized by Millennium Hikers group in order to celebrate Francophonie.

Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF) attended the
6th  Mediterranean Tourism Forum in Malta on Feb. 13 to 16, 2019, under the theme “Mediterranean STARS: Sustainable Tourism Actions and Renewal Strategies”.
On Feb.15th, she took part as guess speaker in the panel discussions titled “A Global Tourism Outlook& & the Mediterranean region”, as well as “Mediterranean Women in Tourism – Tourism Entrepreneurship Challenges and Opportunities for Women across the Mediterranean region.”

​The 2019 of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting took place on January 22nd to 25th in Davos, Switzerland, focused on “Globalization 4.0: Shaping a Global Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution”, picking up on two major trends - global cooperation challenges, and changes as a result of the high-tech digital revolution.
Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF) attended Davos Forum together with over 3,000 participants from 115 economies, including several heads of states and leader figures from global charities.

​On the occasion of a trip to Africa in December 2018, Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF) a field visit to a children school located in a poor neighborhood in Malawi in order to evaluate its conditions and identify opportunities to provide support in the field of education.

​In December 2018, Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF), had a meeting with a cooperative of 28 women who have benefitted from the support of the ST-EP Foundation for the development of handcraft, and particularly basketry.
Amb. Dho suggested those women to diversify their production in order to offer souvenirs such as place mats that can be easily brought back by tourists, and she also invited them to share their know-how with women living in Mwandama, a cluster cluster of villages that has been supported by the ST-EP Foundation through the Millennium Villages as Tourism Destinations initiative implemented in 2011-2015 together with Millennium Promise.

On Dec. 2, 2018, Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF) attended the Global Citizen Festival Mandela 100 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
For the 2018 edition of its festival, Global Citizen brought together its largest contingency of heads of state, dignitaries, a group of the world’s most talented artists and influencers, and thousands of global citizens to celebrate the centenary of Nelson Mandela.
The festival was the capstone event of Global Citizen’s year-long 'Be the Generation' campaign aimed at rallying US$1 billion in new commitments, with US$500 million of that set to impact the lives of 20 million women and girls worldwide.
