Meetings about Hello Friends with Public and Private Partners in Pyeongtaek and Osan, South Kore

As part of the implementation of the Hello Friends program initiated by the International Charity Foundation (ICF), Amb. DHO Young-shim, Chairperson of ICF, had meetings with the Mayor of PyeongTaek, Mr. JUNG Jang-Seon as well as Mr. CHO Ki-bong, Head of Osan Educational Foundation.
Through Hello Friends, US Soldiers from the United States Army Garrison-Humphreys (USAG-H) in Pyeongtaek area, will have the opportunity to volunteer through teaching English to Korean kids with multicultural backgrounds, whose families cannot afford to pay for private lessons fees, within the framework of BOSS (Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers) initiative offering various volunteering opportunities an recreational trips to underprivileged soldiers.

60th Seminar of the National Assembly Forum for Africa’s New Era in Seoul, Republic of Korea

On 10 July, 2019, Amb. DHO Young-shim, Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation attended the 60th Seminar of the National Assembly Forum for Africa’s New Era in Seoul at the National Assembly Hall, hosted on 10 July 2019 by the Honorable LEE Ju-young, Deputy-Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, and Chairman of the National Assembly Forum for Africa’s New Era.
Father Benedict Hwang Chang-yeon was invited to as guest speaker of the seminar, to introduce the "Africa- Korean Ecological Village in Zambia" Project, as the head of several the leaders of several eco-villages in Korea and abroad.

Amb. DHO Young-shim, Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation participated in the 60th Seminar of the National Assembly Forum for Africa’s New Era Seoul, Republic of Korea, hosted on 2 July 2019 by the Honorable LEE Ju-young, Deputy-Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, and Chairman of the National Assembly Forum for Africa’s New Era.
The Forum was attended by 18 Members of the Members of the African Group of Ambassadors in Korea, including
H.E. Mr. Carlos Victor Boungou, ambassador of Gabon to Korea and dean of the group, and experts from various fields such as history, culture, politics, and economics to Africa.
Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Ambassador Boungou both gave a lecture.

Hello Friends Dinner hosted by International Charity Foundation

As the Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF), Amb. DHO Young-shim hosted a dinner for 28 young soldiers of the US Army Garrison (USAG) in Yongsan, South Korea, as part of the Hello Friends program initiated by ICF. ​Amb. DHO Young-shim, Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF), attended a meeting of the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre (GTRCM) as Member of the Board of Governors, on June 16, 2019 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The meeting took place during the 110th United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Executive Council Meeting, and was conducted by the Minister of Tourism for Jamaica, the Hon. Edmund Bartlett. Its main purpose was to discuss future projects and initiatives to be launched after the opening of GTRCM offices at the University of the West Indies in October this year. The GTRCM is dedicated to helping vulnerable states across the world recover quickly from disruptions and crisis that threaten economies and livelihoods globally, using real time data and effective communication.
In Baku, Amb. Dho also had meetings with H.E. Mr. Abulfaz Garayev, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who successfully hosted the 43rd Session of the World Heritage Committee in March 2019, and Mr. Nazim Samadov, Head of Apparatus of the Ministry of Taxes of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Visit of the Duke of York to South Korea

​On May 15, 2019, President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea had a meeting with the Duke of York, Prince Andrew, during a special meeting at the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae in Seoul.
President Moon addressed recent developments on the Korean Peninsula and emphasized that the United Kingdom as a permanent member of the UN Security Council is an important partner with South Korea in achieving denuclearization and lasting peace. Referring to Andrew's visit to the traditional Hahoe Village in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province the day before, Moon added: "I hope Andong will become a symbol of bilateral exchange as well as an international tourist town.“
On the same day, the Duke of York hosted Pitch@Palace Korea 1.0 at the Shilla hotel in Seoul. The event focused on technology and its use in several areas, including cyber-security, agriculture, fintech and blockchain, robotics and artificial intelligence as well as health, fitness and medical innovation. 15 Entrepreneurs pitched their businesses in front of an influential audience of potential supporters, including CEOs, Influencers, Angels, Mentors and Business Partners. The Duke of York was in Korea to attend the 10th Asian Leadership Conference hosted by the Chosun Ilbo.

Official visit of the Duke of York to Andong, South Korea

On May 14, 2019, British Prince Andrew, Duke of York, visited Hahoe Folk Village in Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, South Korea, 20 years after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, visited Hahoe in 1999, on the occasion of a a State Visit to the Republic of Korea. During his visit, the Duke of York planted an apple tree before relaying and greetings from his mother the Queen to the people of Hahoe. 
Prince Andrew also stopped by Chunghyodang House, the residence of Ryu Seong-ryong (1542-1607), a scholar and government official during the Joseon Dynasty era (1392-1910), and saw there the Korean fir tree that his mother planted.
Prince Andrew met with 93 locals from Hahoe - one for each of the Queen's years of life - and then watched a traditional mask dance.  
The Duke of York later travelled to the region’s Agricultural Co-op centre to watch a daily auction. He also visited Bongjeongsa Temple, Korea’s oldest surviving wooden building. Here The Duke laid a fragment of ceramic as a prayer offering, just as Her Majesty did 20 years ago.
Later on, The Duke visited the Korean Studies Institute, which holds the largest collection of private printing blocks in South Korea.

Inaugural ceremony for the establishment of ISTO for P&P Athens, Greece

At the 6th Mediterranean Tourism Forum in the Republic of Malta held in February 2019, Amb. DHO Young-shim, Chairperson of ICF, introduced the idea of establishing the International Sports and Tourism Organization for Peace & Prosperity (ISTO for P&P) to H.E. Mrs. Elena Kountoura, Minister of Tourism of Greece, who receives it positively. Dr. Taleb RIFAI, former UNWTO Secretary-General, was also present. Back in Korea, Amb. DHO sent the draft agreement for the establishment of ISTO for P&P to Minister KOUNTOURA on Feb. 18, 2019.
On April 10, 2019 the foundational document of ISO for P&P were signed in Beirut, Lebanon by the foreign ministers of Greece, Cyprus and Lebanon, George Katrougalos, Nikos Christodoulides, and Gebran Bassil, and Minister of Tourism Kountoura, her Lebanese counterpart Avedis Guidanian and Cyprus Deputy Tourism Minister Savvas Perdios.
On April 22, 2019, the inaugural ceremony for the establishment of International Sports & Tourism Organization for Peace & Prosperity (ISTO for P&P) took place in Athens, Greece.
The ISTO for P&P Preparatory Provisions Committee is composed of:

​Amb. DHO Young-shim, Chairperson of ICF and UN SDGs Alumni, had a lunch meeting with Mrs. Mi-kyung LEE, President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency – KOICA, and H.E. Mr. BAN Ki-moon, 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations.  This meeting focused on gender equality and women empowerment.

On April 8, 2019, Amb. DHO Young-shim, Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation, and UN SDGs Alumni attended the 25th Commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda (KWIBUKA25) at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.
The ceremony included remarks by: H.E. Mr. BAN Ki-moon, 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations, as a friend of Rwanda; the Honorable LEE Ju-young, Deputy-Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, and Chairman of the National Assembly Forum for Africa’s New Era; the Dean of the African Group of Ambassadors, H.E. Carlos Victor BOUNGOU, Ambassador of the Republic of Gabon to the Republic of Korea; and the Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to the Republic of Korea, H.E. Emma ISUMBINGABO.
